Introduction to eSports Betting
To many, eSports betting may be a completely new dimension of gambling but our expert eSports tipsters have vast knowledge of eSports and the betting terms involved.
We have put together the following guide to help you understand the games, the markets and the bets that we will be posting. eSports betting can be very profitable so read on and follow our free eSports betting tips to get involved!
So what exactly are eSports?
“Electronic sports”; also known as “eSports”, are when video games are played competitively in teams (or alone) in either a league or tournament setting. And no, we’re not talking about a group of friends getting together to have Fifa tournaments on a Saturday night, we’re talking about selling out Madison Square Garden, playing in front of crowds reaching the tens of thousands (with millions watching online) and players earning potentially seven figures a year.
One of the main reasons that eSports are becoming so popular is how easy it is to watch the games. YouTube and Twitch.tv (which was bought by Amazon in 2014 for close to a billion dollars) have live streams for every single event, completely for free. The majority of viewers play the games they’re watching, but there’s a significant portion of the fanbase that don’t and simply watch the games because they’re fun. Some are easier to understand than others, but after watching a few games it’s easy to get the gist of it.
Anyway, there are many fantastic articles out there which explain in depth what eSports are, but it’s time to discuss what you come to Free Super Tips for: the best eSports betting tips on the internet, completely for free.
Here’s an example of what a typical League of Legends Accumulator would look like. When using Free Super Tips you can simply choose your preferred stake and with one click the picks will be added to your bet365 betslip.
But what if you only want some of the picks? And what do half of these eSports bets mean?
So first of all, let’s have a look at the eSports section of bet365. Simply log in to your account and click on the “E-Sports” category on the left of your page. If you’re on mobile, all you have to do is click the A-Z button in the top left of your screen to reveal the list of sports available.
When expanding the LOL – NA LCS Summer Split section we’re met with almost 20 different types of eSports bets we can place. It might be a bit overwhelming at first but it’s much simpler than it looks. Let’s go over what some of the different categories mean, we’ll mostly be sticking to 5 or 6 different ones that are easier to predict than others.
Match Winner 2-Way
The most popular of all bets, you simply choose who you think will win the matchup. One thing to note is that in League of Legends there are no draws, only winners and losers, so it’s much easier to predict games than in a sport such as football, but the odds available tend to reflect that (some winners are priced below 1.10!). Luckily, our expert eSports tipsters look through the data and try and find value in every game so you’re not stuck with an accumulator of five picks each with odds of 1.10.
Map 1/Map 2 Winner 2-Way
Now we get onto the bets more unique to eSports. In League of Legends, each “match” is best of 3, so the first team to win 2 games is the winner. This means that games can only end either 2-0 or 2-1 to the winning team. “Maps” are what League of Legends players call one game, so these are just predictions of who will win either the first or second game. If after the first two games the score is 1-1, a “Map 3 Winner 2-Way” category will become available inplay.
As previously mentioned, each match can only end 2-0 or 2-1, so here we can pick a team we think will win if you add 1.5 games or subtract 1.5 games. E.g. if you pick “Team SoloMid -1.5” against SKT T1 and Team SoloMid win 2-0, your bet will win as if you take away -1.5 games they are still the winner. It’s the same with +1.5 bets, so if your pick wins just one game your bet will win. This is the same as “To Win at Least 1 Map” bets.
Correct Map Score
Hopefully by now you’re starting to get an idea of how each match works. Here you predict which team will win as well as their correct score, so either 2-0 or 2-1. The odds are usually great here and we’ll be using these a lot in our correct score doubles.
Total Maps Over/Under
Here you choose if the match will go over or under 2.5 games. If the match is a 2-0 victory, it’s under 2.5, but if it goes to game 3, the “Total Maps” are over 2.5. Typically, teams that are both similar in level will go to a game 3, so Over 2.5 Maps picks are fantastic as they also don’t require you to pick a winner.
Team to Draw First Blood – Map 1/Map 2
This is the same sort of bet as “first team to score”. If the team you choose get the first kill on the map you specified, your bet wins. The odds here are normally very good but it’s very hard to predict the winners.
Other eSports Bets
As for the other eSports bets, they tend not to be as good due to the odds being very similar to the categories mentioned above, e.g. “Team to Score the Most Kills” is most likely to be the team that wins, so it has the exact same odds as simply choosing a winner.
