Brisbane Roar’s unbeaten streak continued last weekend when they held Melbourne City to a 1-1 draw away from home. The last time they lost was an October thrashing at the hands of Newcastle Jets, and since then they have played seven Hyundai A-League matches.
However, the last four have all ended 1-1 for Brisbane Roar, and although them being so hard to beat is a positive thing the fans will be hoping for a bit more going forward into the rest of the season. These eight dropped points in the last four games have seen Brisbane Roar slip down to 4th in the A-League table, and they are now nine points adrift of leaders Sydney FC.
In fairness to Brisbane Roar, three of these four games have been away from home. At the Suncorp Stadium Brisbane Roar have won two and drawn two of their four matches, and they will be hoping to get another victory on Sunday after picking up a draw away to Adelaide United earlier this season.
The majority of their attacking threat has been coming from 23 year old striker Jamie MacLaren. The Australian has scored four times so far this season and looks the best option for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
Adelaide United won the Hyundai A-League double last season, but their defence has been shockingly bad so far. Their 2-0 win at home to Wellington Phoenix last weekend was their first win of the season, with them beginning with an FFA Cup elimination at the hands of semi-pro outfit Redlands United and being followed up by five defeats and three draws in the A-League.
They are already five points adrift of the playoff zone and a huge 17 points off the leaders, so them ending up as champions again looks extremely unlikely at the moment.
Generally Hyundai A-League clashes are high scoring affairs, but Brisbane Roar have been a lot more focused on defensive stability this season. They have seen fewer than three goals scored in eight of their ten competitive matches this season, including four of their five home games. Adelaide United have only seen more than three goals in half of their away days in the league too, so backing Under 2.5 Goals at 1/1 looks very good value. I’m going for another 1-1 correct score predictions at 11/2 for Brisbane Roar too.
