Despite being pretty poor for the majority of the campaign so far, Shrewsbury had looked as though they were on a mini-revival but this were halted as they lost to Sheffield United at the weekend and a trip to face Fleetwood here isn’t likely to prove any easier. The hosts recorded a third consecutive home win at the weekend and will be confident of making this four on Tuesday night.
At odds of 5/6, ‘Fleetwood to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ is the way to play this one. The hosts have been in good scoring form in front of their own fans this season and are fancied to continue in the same vein against 23rd place Shrewsbury.
Having scored 16 goals on their own patch, Fleetwood are the joint-third highest scorers in the division at home. They’ve scored in each of their nine matches at home, scoring two or more in seven of those. The fact that they’ve scored two or more in each of their last three at home also bodes well.
Additionally, the visitors’ stats for conceding on the road match-up well. Shrewsbury have let in a total of 16 goals on their travels this season and have conceded at least twice in seven of their nine away matches.
Whatever way we look at this fixture it’s hard to fancy the visitors and Fleetwood are expected to enjoy scoring at least a couple of goals at Highbury Stadium on Tuesday night.
