Reason For Guingamp vs Montpellier Betting Tips

Montpellier’s upturn in fortunes continued at the weekend as they secured a very pleasing victory away at St Etienne on Friday night. That result followed a 2-0 home win over Nice, and means that Michel Der Zakarian’s men are now unbeaten in five. Unfortunately for Tuesday’s hosts, defeat was not avoided last time out. Guingamp went down 2-1 away to Nantes at the weekend and will be looking to bounce back here.

With this being a cup match, both teams could make a few changes, and so punters should tread with caution in that respect. Having said that, one team still stands out much more than the other, especially at the prices. 6/4 about the visitors on the ‘Draw No Bet’ market looks a good bet. Frankly, it’s hard to see just how Guingamp merit such heavy favouritism.

Not only have the visitors been performing well of late, but they’ve been doing so against some of the division’s best opposition. Draws against both Monaco and PSG bode well, while their last couple of performances, which saw them score three and concede zero in victory against both Nice and St Etienne are also very positive. Against a Guingamp side who’ve looked a little shakey of late, Der Zakarian’s should not be taken lightly.

For all Guingamp do have a reasonably sound recent record at home, their performances of late have left plenty to be desired. With the likes of Briand, Diallo and Benezet in their ranks, they do offer a threat going forward; however, they’re far from secure at the back, just as one clean sheet in four suggests. To be exact, Antoine Kombouaré’s men have conceded six goals in their last four matches, and deservedly so. With Montpellier becoming accustomed to keeping things tight at the back before pouncing at the other end, the hosts could struggle somewhat.

All in all, against Ligue 1’s best defence, the hosts are expected to find life decidedly more difficult than their price suggests. Backing the visitors with the insurance of money back in the event of a draw is the way to go ahead of this one.

Head To Head

Although they’ve not won any of the last three renewals, all of which have ended deadlocked, Montpellier have a far better recent record in this fixture than Guingamp. Tuesday’s visitors have won two of the last five renewals and are without defeat during that time. In fact, Guingamp haven’t beaten Montpellier since 2006.

Guingamp vs Montpellier Stats

Montpellier have conceded less goals than any other Ligue 1 team so far this season.

Guingamp Team News

Alexander Kačaniklić, Yacine Bammou and Nicolas Pallois were all out at the weekend and are likely to miss out here too.

Montpellier Team News

Montpellier went into Friday's game with St Etienne injury free, and they're expected to come into this match in similar vein.
