Houston Dynamo, despite a rather lacklustre run of form at the moment, remain in the hunt for the MLS Western Conference top spot. They currently sit 3rd in the table, three points adrift of Sporting Kansas City and level on points with FC Dallas. The 2nd placed Dallas do have two games in hand, and they are ten points behind Eastern Conference leaders Toronto FC, but there is still plenty of time in the regular season.
Their last outing was a goalless draw at Real Salt Lake, extending their unbeaten streak to five matches in the MLS. Only two of these have been victories though, but they will be confident of adding another to their tally on Saturday night.
Dynamo have a fantastic record at the BBVA Compass Stadium this season. They are yet to be beaten on home soil and have won eight of their 11 league matches there, scoring a huge 30 goals in the process. This, along with their rather weak defence, has made for some cracking matches for the neutrals, with nine of their 11 games at home seeing three or more goals.
San Jose Earthquakes are in decent form themselves though. Their 2-1 win at home to Columbus Crew last weekend made it four wins from their last seven league matches, putting them in the playoff zone in the Western Conference, despite a poor opening period of the campaign.
Away from home things are a struggle though. They have won two, drawn one, and lost eight of their 11 away days in the league, conceding 23 goals. They have shipped a huge 14 goals in their last four away days, losing all of them. Given Houston Dynamo’s excellent attacking form things don’t look overly bright for San Jose Earthquakes.
Odds of 3/4 for the hosts to get the win look incredibly good value, so that’s what we’re backing here alongside a 3-1 correct score predictions at 12/1. We also think it’s worth having a flutter on Houston Dynamo to Win and Over 2.5 Goals at 13/8.
