Kilmarnock narrowly avoided relegation from the Scottish Premiership last season as they finished in the relegation playoff position and beat off competition from Falkirk for the remaining Premiership spot. However, they don’t seem to have learned from their mistakes at all.
They began the campaign by getting knocked out of the Scottish League Cup group stages as they lost two of their four matches. They then kicked off the league campaign with a 2-1 defeat at home to Motherwell.
Kilmarnock did manage to get off the mark with a 2-1 win at Hamilton Academical, but they have since lost to Ross County and Celtic either side of a trio of draws against Rangers, Dundee, and Partick Thistle. This leaves them second from bottom in the table again and coming into this game off the back of a 6-1 thrashing by Celtic.
Aberdeen started the season in dodgy fashion as well. They beat Fola Esch and Ventspils in the Europa League before having their group stage ambitions dashed by Maribor. They then kicked their Scottish Premiership campaign off with a drab goalless draw against St Johnstone, and despite winning 2-1 at Ayr United in the League Cup, they played out another goalless draw at home to Hearts in game-week two.
Their first league win of the season came when they beat Partick Thistle 2-1, but soon after came their first league defeat of the season as Celtic beat them 4-1. Since then things have been looking up for Aberdeen though. They have drawn one and won three of their last four games to take them to 2nd in the table. They are already four points adrift of Celtic though and have played a game more, so a title upset is looking rather unlikely at the moment.
Despite their early season goalless draws, Aberdeen have actually seen both teams get on the score-sheet in all but one of their six games since. Kilmarnock have only failed to score in one of their six Premiership matches as well. However, Aberdeen have won ten in a row against Partick Thistle, so I expect the visitors to find the victory. Odds of 5/2 for Aberdeen to Win and Both Teams to Score are excellent value as well, so I’m going for that along with a 2-1 correct score prediction at 7/1.
