Kilmarnock may have slipped out of the top six in the Scottish Premiership, but they do have three games in hand on the sides in the top half. With a few battles with struggling sides to come, they have a perfect chance to make up ground on the sides above them. Having been locked in the relegation battle early on this season, Steve Clarke has lifted his side to the cusp of the top six. Can they see off a poor Dundee side on Tuesday and move back in to the top half?
The hosts have won three of their last five matches, including a defeat in the FA Cup to Motherwell on Saturday. They’re aiming to bounce back with a victory in midweek, especially with a huge relegation six-pointer against Partick to come at the weekend. However, form is not on the side of the Dark Blues, who head here looking for a rare away win, with the club just two points above the relegation play-off spot.
Meanwhile, Kilmarnock are enjoying a much improved season since former West Brom manager Steve Clarke stepped in, and they’re going to be hoping that he’ll work some magic in this midweek game. Having moved in to the Scottish Cup Sixth Round on Saturday, Killie are on for a strong finish to the season – especially if they can start winning these games in hand. Clashes with bottom half sides could push them towards fifth, while three wins would put them six points off the top four.
Dundee are first up, and we expect Killie to make fairly short work of the visitors in this clash. The away side come here in awful shape, losing seven of their 12 away trips. With just 0.92 points per game to their name on the road, they should come up short against a Killie side who have lost just one of the previous six meetings between these two teams.
Clarke’s men have to be confident given their recent form, with six straight home victories. Meanwhile, the visitors have lost 14 of their 25 Premiership matches this term. That poor return shouldn’t stop a side who have beaten Celtic and Rangers in their last two home league games, so we think the hosts are fantastic value for the points in this clash. We’re also backing a 2-0 victory for Killie as our correct score tip on this game.
