New York Red Bulls poor form came back home with them last weekend as they lost 3-1 at home to LA Galaxy, following on from back to back away losses to Sporting Kansas City and Philadelphia Union.
Prior to this they were on a three match winning streak, but so far their season has been plagued by runs of poor form interspersed with the odd few wins. Overall they have won five, drawn one, and lost six of their 12 MLS games, putting them 5th in the Eastern Conference. They are already nine points adrift of the leaders, and two of the four teams above them have games in hand.
Those leaders happen to be Toronto FC, who sit six points clear of 2nd placed Columbus Crew after an excellent run of form. Their 3-2 win at home to Minnesota United last weekend made it six wins on the bounce.
Prior to that they had won just one of their six MLS games, drawing four times and losing once. They have even managed to put in a lot of good performances on the road, which is quite unusual in the MLS.
Toronto FC’s last away game was a 2-1 win over Columbus Crew, and they have won three, drawn two, and lost just one of their six away games so far this season. Before last weekend you would have said it’s unlikely they can get a win at the Red Bull Arena, but after the hosts’ capitulation against LA Galaxy, the chances of an away win have shot up.
Given Toronto FC’s form at the moment and New York Red Bulls recent losing streak, odds of 7/10 for a Toronto FC Win or Draw Double Chance look great value for money, so I’m backing that alongside a 2-1 correct score predictions at 11/1.
