It has been a pretty good week or so for both clubs and both coaches will be encouraged that their sides have a shot at beating the drop this year. Vitoria surprisingly won 2-1 at high-flying Gremio last week thanks to 1st Half goals from Kieza and Diego Renan. However having got 3 points unexpectedly, they may feel like they let 2 slip by only drawing at home to Ponte Preta at the weekend. Kieza was again on the scoresheet and only 3 players in this league have netted more times than him this season however he is suspended for this match which is a major blow to the hosts chances.
Sport Recife make the relatively short trip South to Salvador in good spirits having taken 7 points from their last 3 matches to creep out of the drop-zone. Over the past 10 days they have picked up home wins against Fluminense and Chapecoense and got a very good 0-0 draw on the road at Sao Paulo. Their victory over Chapecoense at the weekend was very convincing with Costa Rican midfielder Rodney Wallace netting twice in only his 2nd start for the club.
As a result Sport Recife should come here with real belief and unlike their opponents they have no real selection issues to worry about. Vitoria have only won 3 matches so far this season in Serie A so they do look quite short in the win market here given they are a newly promoted club that will be missing their top scorer and playing a side that looked very good going forward at the weekend. Sport Recife look capable of getting a result from this game and for that reason backing Double Chance – Draw or Sport Recife at 3/4 looks to provide real value here.
