Burnley vs Huddersfield
Burnley managed to upset the odds once again last weekend as they drew away to Liverpool, with that only second to their 3-2 win away to Chelsea in terms of satisfactory results this season. They haven’t been that impressive at home this season admittedly, but the fact that they have won nine of their last 16 at Turf Moor shows that Huddersfield are up against it. The visitors started the season in phenomenal fashion, but recent defeats to West Ham and Crystal Palace have brought them back down to earth and we’re expecting them to have a tough time against The Clarets. A classic Burnley scoreline of 1-0 to the hosts looks the order of the day here.
FST predicts -1-0 Burnley
Everton vs Bournemouth
Everton have come under a bit of fire at the start of this season after a few dreadful performances, and whilst you definitely can’t ignore their glaring issues at the back it has to be remember that they have been pitted against some very tough teams this season. Now they host a Bournemouth side who haven’t been great, and after notching three against Sunderland in the League Cup there will be a bit more confidence around The Toffees. I can’t see them keeping a clean sheet against a similarly improving Bournemouth, but The Cherries have lost four of their five in the Premier League and haven’t picked up a point away from home, so a 2-1 win for the hosts at Goodison Park looks a good option.
FST predicts – 2-1 Everton
Manchester City vs Crystal Palace
Manchester City actually looked like they might struggle in their opening two games as they were frustrated for much of the game away to Brighton and then held to a draw against Everton, but since then they have really come into their own and it’s clear why they were pre-season favourites for the Premier League title. They absolutely battered Watford 6-0 last weekend and hammered Liverpool 5-0 the weekend before, all the while maintaining a strong presence in the League Cup and Champions League. Now they come face to face with a Crystal Palace side who are yet to score or pick up a point this season, and to be honest this could be any scoreline. We can’t see The Eagles ending their goal drought at the Etihad, and another comprehensive victory for the hosts is likely to be on the cards.
FST predicts – 5-0 Manchester City
Southampton vs Manchester United
Southampton may be able to boast a solid looking back line, but going forward there aren’t many worse teams in the Premier League than them. They have failed to score in seven of their last eight league matches at St Mary’s, and they’re now coming up against a Manchester United side who have kept a clean sheet in four of their five league games so far this season. I can’t see Southampton breaking through on Saturday, and I can’t see them holding the visitors off at the other end either. Manchester United have scored 16 goals in their five league games this season, and whilst Southampton’s defence is fairly strong a comfortable looking 2-0 win for the visitors looks the most likely outcome.
FST predicts – 2-0 Manchester United
Stoke vs Chelsea
Stoke’s season has been an odd one, with fantastic results against the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United marred by disappointing performances in defeats to Newcastle and Bristol. The home advantage is definitely at play though, and given the fact they have beaten Arsenal and drawn with Manchester United at home you wouldn’t rule out a result for The Potters on Saturday. Chelsea showed their frailties when they lost to Burnley in their Premier League opener, and they failed to beat Arsenal at home last weekend. Considering they are coming up against a Stoke side who have only lost 20% of their last 15 home league games backing a 1-1 draw looks a good choice for this one.
FST predicts – 1-1 Draw
Swansea vs Watford
Swansea’s lack of goals remain an issue for them, and even with the arrival of Wilfried Bony and Renato Sanches their new key players will take some time to gel into the squad and they’re coming head to head with a very promising looking Watford side this weekend. The visitors have already won both of their away games this season 2-0, beating Bournemouth and Southampton. Both of those victims have been struggling for goals just like The Swans, so a 2-0 win for the visitors definitely looks the best option here.
FST predicts – 2-0 Watford
