Why under 40 total match points?
Two staunch defenses, plus two questionable offenses
The unders has hit 4 of the last 5 matches for Chicago. And for Baltimore —4 of the last 6 matches have aligned with the unders. In Baltimore’s losses to Pittsburgh and Jacksonville, the Ravens scored a combined 16 points. Flacco has thrown 6 picks on the season.
To the contrary, in last week’s big 30-17 win over Oakland, Baltimore put up points. Joe completed 19 of 26 passes for 222 yards. Yet still, Flacco threw 0 TD’s. RB Javorius Landry rushed for 73 yards and scored the Raven’s only offensive TD. So is the Raven’s offense finally turning things around?
Lots of people are jumping on the train, saying Baltimore will cover the -6 point spread vs the Bears. The purple birds are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 home matches. And the Bears are just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 matches on a Sunday following a Monday night match. But we’re not so sure Baltimore will blow away Trubisky and company at home.
Chicago has been known to play some pretty good defense when they buckle down. Plus, they have a pretty good rushing game with Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen. And the Ravens have proven they are susceptible to the run —especially since they’ve been without stud DT Brandon Williams who could miss week 6 with a foot injury.
However, reports indicate that Raven’s RB West is in line to play in week 6, despite being listed as doubtful. But will the calf injury hinder him? It remains to be seen. Plus, Bear’s ILB Danny Trevathan will return from a reduced 1 game suspension this week.
The Bears play pretty well this week on the road. Their defense steps up to match the potent defense of the Ravens. Baltimore leads 13-7 at the half. The second half is scarce of points, and the Bears pick off Flacco once and sack him twice. Trubisky and Howard, plus the Bear’s defense keep this one close –but the Ravens get their second straight win, and beat Chicago 20-14.
