Belgian Knockout Tips & Betting Predictions
The European Tour heads to Rinkven International Golf Club in Belgium this week for the new knockout event which promises to be a very exciting week of golf. Read on for our free betting tips and predictions.
Well done to the European Tour for creating this innovative head to head event which will consist of single elimination strokeplay. The format is quite simple; the full field play 36 holes of strokeplay for the first two days and the Top 64 players will then make the cut for the weekend. If there are any ties for 64th, then a sudden death play-off will take place on the Friday evening to determine who goes through.
On Saturday, the players are seeded and they will take part in a straight knockout where the winner goes through to the last 32, then the last 16 and so on. Each match will be 9 holes strokeplay which makes things rather exciting as every match has to go down to the final hole. If there is a tie after the 9th hole, they will have a sudden death play-off. The winners will have to play three matches on the Saturday which will leave eight players on Sunday and they will play until we find our winner!
Thomas is the host for this tournament this week so he will have a lot going on behind the scenes which could potentially hinder his focus on the golf but for me he is the best player in this field and playing in front of the home crowd he will be eager to impress. He has been spending a lot of time on the PGA Tour this season so he will be battle-hardened and his three European Tour victories have come not too far from here in Holland, Denmark and the Czech Republic so hopefully he can add another one to the list this week.
31 year old French player who was a prolific winner on the Challenge Tour, victorious six times. He has yet to win on the European Tour but a win is not far away if you look at his recent play with Top 10 finishes in Oman and Morocco already this season. His best finishes have come on tight courses where accuracy off the tee is paramount so he has the required attributes and skills to make his presence felt this week we feel. His main strengths is his solid iron play and touches around the greens which will be of the utmost importance.

This might end up being a ludicrous selection but I couldn’t help myself at the prices. At 750/1 I feel this man is worth a punt. The 21 year old Belgian is an up and coming name to watch out for and will be eager to impress in front of his home fans. He will be well acquainted with this golf course and has played it a lot of times which might give him an edge over some of the more experienced European Tour players. When a player knows a course like the back of his hand, it can make all the difference. Speculative punt!
