Why Kansas City -3 point spread?
The Steeler’s and Roethlisberger are too shaky for comfort
A lot of bettors think the Steelers have a good chance to rebound this week, after a very poor offensive showing last week vs the Jaguars. Many are taking them to win SU with the moneyline. Others like them with the point spread. After all, Pittsburgh has beaten the Chiefs 5 of 6 matches —dating back to 2011. And the Steelers are 22-11 vs the Chiefs all time.
But last week, Big Ben was atrocious. He threw 5 interceptions. The Steelers fell way behind, and were forced to abandon their running game, so Le’Veon Bell wasn’t a factor. If they can’t get him involved this week, it will be a long day for Pitt on the road. The Steelers were beaten by Chicago on the road a few weeks ago. Then they rebounded by taking it to the Ravens. But they’re altogether shaky.
And although the Chief’s defense is 4th worst in the league and the Steelers have the 12th ranked overall offense, it’s still hard to see Pittsburgh coming to Arrowhead and outplaying Kansas City based on what we’ve seen this season. If Pitt can utilize Antonio Brown they will have a shot. But Big Ben has a history of playing bad two weeks in a row. He’s coming off 5 INT’s. We think he could throw at least 1 more INT this week and get sacked a few times.
The Chief’s offense is rolling
The Chiefs are 5-0 SU and 5-0 ATS this season. Unlike Roethilisberger, Chief’s quarterback Alex Smith is balling on a consistent basis. Kansas city owns the league’s #2 ranked offense. They’re ranked 6th overall in passing, and are averaging nearly 33 points per match —best in the entire NFL. Plus, running back Kareem Hunt is the NFL’s leading rusher with 609 yards on the season. And Pitt has a leaky run defense. Losing rookie phenom T.J. Watt didn’t help.
With the Chiefs being at home, we’re rolling with them to cover the -3 point spread. If you don’t like Kansas City with -3 point spread, then consider taking the overs. The over/under is 46. That feels a little low, considering the offensive fire power both squads have. And also considering that rookie QB Deshaun Watson had a hell of a day passing vs the Chiefs in week 5.
Chiefs get an early lead 17-10 at the half. Pitt battles back. But they can’t keep up with Kansas City’s offense, and can’t quite handle their home defense. Kareem Hunts gets a TD, and so does Tyreek Hill. Chiefs win at home beating the Steelers 28-23.
