Reason for Atlanta Falcons vs New Orleans Saints Betting tips
The Falcons loss last week to the Vikings not only hurt in the win/loss column, but also in the Wild Card standings, as they are now out of the playoff picture at the current moment. Now one game back of the Seahawks and Panthers, Thursday night seems to be a must win for an Atlanta team looking to make it out of a loaded NFC.
Last week’s performance had some ups and downs. The Falcons weren’t able to move the ball necessarily well, but did hold Case Keenum and the Vikings offense to only 14 points. The Falcons just couldn’t convert on 3rd down and the Vikings pass rush was giving them problems all day long.
The Saints, on the other hand, picked up a big win over the Panthers to push them into first place in the division. The Saints dropped 31 points on a top 5 Panthers defense, and Cam Newton was simply not able to keep up. The defense has been struggling more without CB Marshon Lattimore, so the Saints will hope he is ready to play on a short week.
On the other hand, Atlanta will have their top corner Desmond Trufant back from his concussion. It will be a big boost for an Atlanta Falcons defense that is going to have to stop a lot of speedy Saints wideouts.
For this contest, we are backing the Under for total points. The public is already catching on, as the total has dropped from 55 to 52 in a matter of days. Of course, when you look at names like QB Drew Brees and Matt Ryan you imagine a shootout game with over 70 total points. But the changes made on the defensive side of the ball should be enough to keep this total under. The Saints are just 3-3 on the road for the over/under, while the Falcons are 2-4 at home against the O/U. The Saints 12 th ranked defence and the inconsistences of the Falcons offense should be enough to keep the total under.
As for a winner, we are going to side with the home dogs, as the Falcons need this win to keep in the wildcard race. Getting Trufant back is huge, and now DeVonta Freeman is healthy and back with RB Tevin Coleman available as well. Look for the Falcons to target either a banged up Lattimore or whoever replaces him as they try and get the ball into WR Julio Jones hands. We are backing him for an anytime touchdown scorer as well, given that he will need a big game if the Falcons want to stay competitive in this one.
