Chelsea vs Stoke
Correct score prediction: 3-1 Chelsea
Chelsea’s form has been slowly getting back to what we would expect of Premier League champions, and they’re coming into this match having not lost a Premier League game since Guus Hiddink took over. Their upturn in form is thanks to the re-emergence of Diego Costa and company’s footballing talent, and I expect the marksman to get on the scoresheet on Saturday. Considering their improved attacking play recently I think a comfortable 3-1 win at home to Stoke is a good backing.
Everton vs West Ham
Correct score prediction: 2-2 Draw
Everton and West Ham both come into this game in excellent form, with the visitors challenging for an unlikely top four spot and the hosts hoping to nullify their poor first half of the season. Both teams possess the attacking talent to really trouble the oppositions’ defence, with Everton’s poorer defence being helped along by their incredible attacking talent and home advantage. West Ham are a very difficult side to beat though, so I think a 2-2 draw is a good prediction for this one.
Manchester City vs Aston Villa
Correct score prediction: 3-0 Manchester City
Manchester City’s dismal 3-0 defeat at Anfield in midweek is something that needs replying to, and a home match against bottom of the table Aston Villa is just what they need right now. We’re expecting them to come out all guns blazing and stamp their name back on their faltering title race. This could lead to a bit of a mauling for the struggling Villains, and a 3-0 win for the hosts is looking the most likely outcome.
Newcastle vs Bournemouth
Correct score prediction: 1-0 Bournemouth
Newcastle will be deflated after their midweek defeat at Stoke. They played acceptably throughout the match but just couldn’t hold the hosts off for long enough. Despite their improved overall performance, Newcastle’s attack is lacklustre to say the least. I think Bournemouth can come away from St James Park with a clean sheet and a narrow victory under their belts, especially after their recent upturn in form, so a 1-0 win for Bournemouth looks good to me.
Southampton vs Sunderland
Correct score prediction: 3-1 Southampton
Fraser Forster’s fortress has taken a bit of a battering in the last week or so. Chelsea managed to beat Fraser Forster last weekend, ending his run of clean sheets, and then bagged another for good measure. Their usually rock solid defence then let in two at Bournemouth, so I think a Sunderland side who have scored more than their fair share this season can get on the scoresheet. That’s unlikely to be enough though, considering they possess such a terrible defensive record, and a comfortable 3-1 win for the Saints is looking good to me.
Swansea vs Norwich
Correct score prediction: 1-0 Swansea
This one could be an absolutely crucial match in the fight against relegation for both of these teams. Swansea got a very impressive win against Arsenal in midweek, whilst Norwich’s defeat to Chelsea saw them slide back into the relegation zone. I quite fancy the newly reformed Swansea defence to keep Norwich out on Saturday, but the South Wales outfit’s attacking play is still not looking up to much. This all points towards a narrow win for the hosts, so 1-0 is my prediction for this one.
