Reason For Bristol Rovers vs Northampton Betting Tips

Two teams who suffered disappointing defeats on Bank Holiday Monday will be looking to recover here, although, given their current form which is patchy at best, it’s hard to fancy either with any conviction.

The bet to go for ahead of this one is ‘Both Teams to Score’ at odds of 4/5. Both are capable as attacking forces; however, they’ve often let themselves down defensively.

Bristol Rovers have certainly performed better at home than away this season, but they’re a side who will always give their opponents a chance. In scoring 24 goals at home, they proved to be one of the better forward-thinking teams, but in conceding 19, they’ve also showcased an inability to keep things tight at the back.

Northampton find themselves in a similar position when playing away from home. Their 16 away goals is by no means a poor return and they’re generally fancied to score on the road, however, they’ve struggled to keep goals out, keeping just two clean sheets on their travels all season.

Both teams will be looking to bounce back here and thus it would be no surprise at all if we saw a fair amount of attacking at both ends. With this in mind, coupled with their poor defensive records, it’s easy to see both teams finding the net at least once each in this one.

Head to Head

The recent head-to-head record suggests that these two have been fairly evenly matched whenever they’ve met. Rovers have won two of the last five meetings, while Northampton have won one. The last time they met was back in 2016 – a match that saw Saturday’s hosts win 3-2 away from home.

Bristol Rovers Team News

Bristol Rovers Team Badge Matty Taylor could be back for the hosts, although Daniel Leadbitter is a doubt. James Clarke, Chris Lines and Billy Bodin could also return to the line-up.

Northampton Team News

Northampton Team Badge Gregg Wylde and Hiram Boateng have both just joined Northampton on loan and could feature here. Brendan Moloney and JJ Hooper both miss out through injury.
