Colo Colo take on Melgar in the Copa Libertadores this Wednesday. Our betting tips suggest it should be a relatively comfortable night for the Chileans.
Colo Colo vs Melgar Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews
Reason For Colo Colo vs Melgar Betting Tips
They made a solid start to their group campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Ecuador’s Independiente and will be well-poised if they can see off Melgar here. Colo Colo come into the game in good form and unbeaten in 7 competitive matches since losing their opening game of the season at Santiago Wanderers. They are 2nd in the Chilean top flight and will be hopeful of avoiding last year’s fate when they missed out on the Libertadores knock-out stages on goal difference despite winning 3 of their group games.
Melgar were beaten 2-1 at home by Atletico Mineiro last week and were also defeated at the weekend in the league going down 3-2 at home to Juan Aurich and they look considerably more vulnerable than they were in the 2nd half of 2015 when they were the dominant force in Peruvian football and secured a surprise qualification for this competition.
Reason for Betting Tips
Colo Colo have only conceded 2 goals in their last 6 games and are strong defensively. Melgar are likely to come here with a cautious attitude and know they will be up against it in this group and certainly in this match. Their only real continental experience prior to this season is limited to two brief outings in the Copa Sudamericana in 2013 and 2015. On those occasions they were beaten 3-0 and 5-0 away from home in their only games on the road and although they may be able to restrict Colo Colo to a lower score here, it’s hard to see them having enough quality to really hurt the side from Chile. Therefore backing Colo Colo to win to nil at 13/10 looks a tempting proposition.
