Reason For Dundee vs St Johnstone Betting Tips
Dundee returned to losing ways on Wednesday when they lost 2-0 at Partick Thistle, putting a big dampener on their previous 3-2 win against Hearts. They have now lost three, drawn one, and won one of their last five matches.
This, alongside their dreadful start to the campaign, has left them in a perilous 9th position in the Scottish Premiership. There are just three points between them and the bottom of the table, although things are tight above them as well and a win could send them up to 6th.
A win doesn’t look overly likely though. St Johnstone managed to take a point from the in form Rangers on Wednesday to make it five games without defeat for them, and although only two of these five have ended in victory they still sit in a decent 5th position in the table with a seven point cushion over 6th placed Partick.
Surprisingly St Johnstone are even more difficult to beat away from home. They have only lost one of their nine away days in the Premiership this season and have won four of them.
This is largely down to them having the best away defence in the entire Scottish Premiership. They have conceded just seven goals in their nine away days, picking up 16 points in the process. Meanwhile, Dundee have only scored 11 times in their ten home matches this season, so it could be a difficult afternoon for them.
At the other end of the pitch it’s midfielder Danny Swanson gaining the plaudits with seven league goals this season, three of which came away from home. I’m not expecting a particularly high scoring match on Saturday, but if there’s anyone to back for our goalscorer predictions it’s Swanson at 12/5 to score anytime.
Unsurprisingly, with such a tight defence, St Johnstone have seen very few high scoring games on the road this season. Just one of their last seven on the road have seen three or more goals, whilst six of Dundee’s last nine at home have been on the low scoring end of the spectrum.
This makes odds of 3/4 for Under 2.5 Goals look attractive, so I’m backing that as my main prediction, along with a 1-1 correct score predictions at 5/1.
