Osasuna visit Gimnastic Tarragona on Saturday hoping to hold on to their lead in the Spanish Segunda promotion playoff semi final. Our free betting predictions suggest that the hosts can get a win on Saturday, but it might not be enough to overturn the deficit.

Gimnastic Tarragona vs Osasuna Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Reason For Gimnastic Tarragona vs Osasuna Betting Tips

It’s couldn’t have gone much worse for Gimnastic Tarragona in the first leg of this Spanish Segunda playoff semi final. They visited Osasuna and had the majority of the ball and a good amount of attacking play, but Osasuna were clinical. The hosts had three shots on target and scored with all of them as Mikel Merino bagged a brace and Kenan Kodro scored another for good measure. The only positive is the fact that Gimnastic Tarragona did manage to get a goal after they went 3-0 down, so the two goal deficit isn’t irrecoverable.

This ended their nine match unbeaten streak in the Spanish Segunda and put their chances of back to back promotion in severe jeopardy. Whatever happens this can be considered a very successful season for them though. They were only promoted from the 3rd tier last season and have performed brilliantly throughout the campaign to finish 3rd in the 2nd tier. They only ended three points off automatic promotion to La Liga as well, so the future is looking bright for Gimnastic Tarragona.

Osasuna have had a surprisingly good season as well. The former perennially struggling La Liga side finally succumbed to relegation in the 2013/14 season, and their first season in the Spanish Segunda almost ended in disaster. They finished in 18th position just one point clear of the relegation zone, but they have turned it around this term.

They finished the campaign in 6th position after a good run of form towards the end of the season. They won four of their last eight and only lost twice in their final 12 games of the regular season.

This good form continued on Wednesday when they beat Gimnastic Tarragona, but it could be more difficult away from home. They have only won two of their last eight on the road and recently lost to Gimnastic Tarragona away. The hosts are unbeaten in 11 home matches as well, although the visitors will be buoyed by the fact that they haven’t won by more than a single goal at home since the middle of December.

I do think the hosts can get the win on Saturday. They were a bit unfortunate in the first leg and at home they are in good form, so odds of 23/20 for them to get the win look very good value. I don’t think they will win by enough though, hence why I’m backing a 2-1 correct score prediction at 17/2.

Head to Head

Osasuna have won three, drawn one, and lost one of their five matches against Gimnastic Tarragona.
