Reason For Hibernian vs Hamilton Betting Tips
An in-form Hamilton side will travel to Edinburgh as they are hosted by Hibs at Easter Road on Saturday. Can the Hibees get back to their winning ways in the Premiership?
It has been a strange few weeks for Hibs. The club got their 2019 off to a positive start after their winter break, coming back from their Dubai training camp with every intention of fighting to make their way back into the top half of the league. Their Scottish Cup game was their first of the year, smashing Elgin City 4-0 at home, but little did anyone know that the following game- a 1-0 loss away to Motherwell- would be manager Neil Lennon’s last game in charge. The Northern Irishman was suspended by the club the day before his side was to play St Mirren- a game that the Hibees would win 3-1 under interim coach Eddie May.
Two consecutive defeats to Aberdeen and Celtic in the Premiership sank the club further down the table and with less possibility of making it into the top half, but last week’s 3-1 against Raith Rovers was precisely what Hibs needed in the situation they’re currently in, and it also marks May’s last game in charge of the club before Paul Heckingbottom takes over.
Hamilton’s decision to part ways with Martin Canning at the end of January proved puzzling to some, as the now ex-manager had done a terrific job keeping the club in the Premiership over the last four years since he took over from Alex Neil back in 2015.
The Accies have been struggling a lot more than usual this season, and their position in the league indicates just that. Even though the decision may have been weird to begin with, Hamilton now seemed to have revived under new manager Brian Rice. Rice took charge of the team for the first time against Dundee in a crucial game for the relegation battle. Dundee went ahead and seemed to be going for the win that would catapult them in front of the Accies in the league, Darian Mackinnon’s strike in the final minutes of the game brought things level and earned Hamilton a point.
The club would then go on to beat St Johnstone in the midweek fixture thanks to a George Oakley double, putting even more distance between themselves and Dundee and St Mirren below them. The South Lanarkshire club now face a tough game against a Hibs side with a newly-appointed manager, before having to face both Rangers and Aberdeen in the next couple of weeks.
It’s should be an intriguing match at Easter Road on Saturday. Both clubs will be desperate to take all three points to boost their respective morale and exit the slumps they were in just a few weeks ago. However, Hibs are, on paper, a much better team overall, and they also boast the home advantage as well as the need to impress the new manager. We’re going to back the Edinburgh club to win to nil here, a final score of 2-0 and for Florian Kamberi to score anytime.
Head to Head
Hamilton’s last win over Hibs came in the first meeting of last season’s campaign. The Accies won 3-1 at Easter road, but the following 2 meetings saw the sides draw 1-1 and Hibs win 3-1 in their most recent encounter back in April.
