Reason For Independiente Medellin vs Palestino Betting Tips

Tuesday’s Copa Libertadores second round qualification, second leg clash sees Colombians Independiente Medellin doing battle with Chileans Palestino. The hosts are expected to advance after avoiding defeat in last week’s first leg.

DIM travelled to Chile last week knowing that if they came back undefeated, they’d be in the driving seat and that’s exactly what they did, with the game ending 1-1. The Colombians played fairly defensively in said clash and did come under some sustained spells of pressure but now on home soil, they’ll be looking for a far more threatening and attacking performance.

Confidence can certainly be high in getting the job done on Tuesday, as DIM are typically a very powerful outfit at the Estadio Atanasio Girardot, where a large crowd is expected to be present for the game. El Rojo Paisa are unbeaten in 13 matches in front of their own fans and having scored an average of 1.84 goals a game over said fixtures, they have more than enough firepower in their ranks to win the tie.

Meanwhile, Palestino arrive disappointed not to have made their home advantage and relative dominance over the first leg count, but with the scores still level, all hope isn’t lost. Nonetheless, the Chileans have left themselves with a huge amount of work to do and their away record hardly inspires confidence coming into the trip.

Tricolor have won just 1 of their last 11 away matches, and needing to score at least once on Tuesday to have any hope of advancing, the fact they’ve failed to notch in 3 of their last 4 on the road is a real worry and is something that will simply have to be improved on..

Ultimately, DIM came into the tie as marginal favourites given their home strength and, having maintained parity, you’d expect them to now go on and book their place in the final qualifying round. Man for man, they’re a slightly stronger outfit than Palestino and with the backing of the crowd, they should have enough to get over the line.

As such, we’re more than happy to back a home win with maximum confidence and feel it’s the only way to play as far as the betting goes. Palestino simply do not offer enough of an attacking threat when playing away from home and with DIM a potent home side, we think they’ll run out comfortable 2-0 winners come the full time whistle.
