Reason For Liverpool vs AC Milan Betting Tips

Liverpool couldn’t have really dreamt for a worse start in the International Champions Cup. A 10th minute goal from Chelsea defender Gary Cahill put them a goal behind in the early stages of the game, and then young midfielder Marko Grujic suffered a concussion which has since hospitalised him. Apparently that wasn’t enough bad news for Jurgen Klopp though, as the second half saw Cesc Fabregas sent off for a late challenge on new signing Ragnar Klavan, who then appeared to struggle with the knock.

This ended Liverpool’s four match winning streak since the end of last season, although their opposition warranted them to win every match of the pre-season so far. They had played against Tranmere Rovers, Fleetwood Town, Wigan, and Huddersfield before meeting Chelsea, and their last competitive match ended with a 3-1 defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League Final.

AC Milan had a more successful start to this friendly tournament. They took the lead in the 23rd minute against Bayern Munich, although two first half goals saw them enter the break 2-1 down to the German giants. Bertolacci and Kucka put the Rossoneri back in front though, until a 90th minute equaliser from the penalty spot that is. However, they managed to triumph over the Bundesliga winners in the penalty shootout.

This was their second pre-season friendly since they lost the Coppa Italia Final to Juventus in May. They beat Bordeaux 2-1 in the middle of July, and now they have their sights trained on Premier League duo Liverpool and Chelsea prior to the start of their Serie A campaign in August.

AC Milan showed that they’re not taking this competition massively seriously with their 3-3 draw on Thursday, and they have only managed to keep a clean sheet in one of their last seven outings. This should give Liverpool a good chance to find the net, but their own defence is in the process of a drastic rebuild so I can’t see them keeping an AC Milan side who have scored in six of their last seven out either. Odds of 4/6, therefore, look like decent value for Both Teams to Score, so that’s what I’m backing along with a 2-1 win for AC Milan at 10/1 for my correct score prediction.

Head to Head

Liverpool have won one, drawn one, and lost one of their three matches against AC Milan, with the most famous being the 2005 Champions League Final where they drew 3-3 before Liverpool won on penalties.

Liverpool Team News

Liverpool Team Badge New signing Ragnar Klavan could miss out after being the subject of a hefty challenge from Cesc Fabregas in the last match, whilst midfielder Marko Grujic will definitely miss out after being hospitalised with concussion. New signing Georginio Wijnaldum could make his Liverpool debut since joining up with the club in America. Emre Can and Divock Origi are likely to be rested after Euro 2016.

AC Milan Team News
