Reason For Liverpool vs Borussia Dortmund Betting Tips

Jurgen Klopp and a strong Liverpool squad left Manchester airport in the early hours of Saturday morning, and this late departure to the United States has allowed many of the first team regulars to be included in the International Champions Cup squad.

Premier League Golden Boot winner Mohamed Salah is present, along with the likes of Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, Virgil van Dijk, James Milner, and Georginio Wijnaldum. New signings Naby Keita and Fabinho are also present, although Xherdan Shaqiri won’t fly out until next week and Alisson is still on a break after his World Cup exploits.

Of course, it’s unlikely that we’ll see all of the big hitters in action on Sunday evening, but the majority of those who took part in the World Cup are likely to get at least a bit of a run out.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have already seen quite a lot of action this summer though. They beat Blackburn Rovers 2-0 on Thursday in their fourth pre-season friendly, and players such as Loris Karius, Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne, and James Milner already have a fair amount of game time under their belts.

Borussia Dortmund have also been in action already this summer, the most recent of which was a 1-0 win over Manchester City on Friday night in their first International Champions Cup match. It was a Mario Gotze penalty that settled the scores, and Dortmund stars such as Mario Gotze, Christian Pulisic, Marcel Schmelzer, and Jadon Sancho all took part in the game.

All this suggests that we’re likely to see strong starting lineups from both sides here, and for the neutral that is excellent news. Jurgen Klopp will be keen to get one over his former club, and with the consequences of losing immaterial, both teams should be looking for goals.

Both of these sides have been in the ICC before, and looking back we can see that Borussia Dortmund have seen an average of three goals per game over their four International Champions Cup matches. Both teams have found the net in three of these games too, whilst Liverpool have seen an average of 2.75 goals per game in their last four ICC matches.

Considering Jurgen Klopp’s general approach to football and the strong squads on offer, we like the look of Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score here, along with a 2-2 draw for our correct score predictions.

Head to Head

Liverpool have won three and drawn two of their five meetings with Borussia Dortmund, the last of which was a 4-3 win for Liverpool in the second leg of their 2015/16 Europa League tie.

Liverpool Team News

Liverpool Team Badge Many of Liverpool's big hitters have travelled with the squad, including Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, James Milner, and Adam Lallana. New signings Naby Keita and Fabinho are also there, although fellow newcomer Alisson is still on a break after the World Cup, along with fellow Brazilian international Roberto Firmino. Xherdan Shaqiri is expected to join up with the squad next week.

Borussia Dortmund Team News

Borussia Dortmund Team Badge Borussia Dortmund have a strong squad over in the United States, with the likes of Sebastian Rode, Mario Gotze, Marco Reus, Nuri Sahin, Jadon Sancho, and Christian Pulisic all present. Andre Schurrle was released from the squad to discuss a potential transfer though, and with Dortmund playing against Manchester City on Friday night we are likely to see some rotation.
