Reason For Maastricht vs FC Oss Betting Tips

The Play-offs will again be the target for MVV this term as they seek to end their 19 year stay in Eerste Divisie, and they’ll fancy their chances of prevailing on match day one this Friday night when FC Oss visit De Geusselt.

After finishing 10th last term, Maastricht scraped into the Play-offs but were comfortably seen off 6-3 on aggregate in the 1st Round by an inspired Almere City side.

Following a 7th place finish and a 2nd Round appearance in 2016/17, last season was a bit of a step back for the club, but it’s quite possible that they can improve again under the guidance of Ron Elsen, who is one of the longest serving managers in the league, having been in control since 2014.

Elsen has brought real stability to Maastricht and three consecutive Play-off appearances can be considered relative success for a club that last graced Eredivisie at the turn of the century. It’s no surprise that the 51-year-old has been careful once again in the transfer market as he seeks to gradually enhance the quality of his squad, and the arrival of full-back Maxime Gunst and winger Asumah Abubakhar from FC Eindhoven and Willem II respectively should do just that.

Oss are one of the smaller clubs in Eerste Divisie and are not expected to be Play-off challengers this season after ending 2017/18 in 15th – an effort which matched their performance in the 2016/17 campaign.

Boss Klaas Wels remains at the club for his second season, despite him driving no improvement to Oss’ league position in his first year – and that perhaps tells you all you need to know about where the club expect them to operate.

Oss do have an extremely close head to head record with MVV however – they’ve won 16 and drawn 5 of their 36 previous meetings, and games between the pair are usually close. Oss ran out 1-0 winners at home last season and managed to grab a point in a 1-1 stalemate at De Geusselt.

We think it will be difficult for them to achieve anything more than a point on Friday, as MVV are very consistent at home – they lost just four of their 19 fixtures at De Geusselt  last term, boasting the third best home defence in the league, whilst Oss triumphed just three times on the road.

MVV look the most likely team to snatch all three points. However we’re opting for a low scoring game instead. We know it will be fairly close between the sides as 5 of the last 6 meetings have yielded fewer than 2.5 goals. So under 2.5 goals is our main tip in this match day one contest with a 1-0 success for MVV the choice in the correct score market.

Head to Head

These two clubs have an extremely close head to head record. FC Oss shade it with 16 wins to MVV's 15 in 36 encounters.
