Reason For Qatar vs Ecuador Betting Tips
Qatar failed to qualify for the World Cup in Russia, but will take part in 2022 as the hosts. While most nations can afford not to go through the qualifiers because they are already an established nation with experience at major international tournaments, Qatar don’t have that luxury and need to test themselves against quality opposition in their friendlies between now and the start of the next World Cup. Ecuador provide the opposition in the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium on Friday, and should give the home side a test, despite many of their more familiar, experienced names either retiring or not being selected.
Last month Qatar played host to Palestine where an excellent first half performance proved enough to claim a 3-0 victory. Almoez Ali opened the scoring in the third minute to set the tone of the first half for the hosts. Akram Afif doubled Qatar’s advantage in the nineteenth minute after good work from Abdulaziz Hatem, and when Hassan Al Heidos scored a third goal in the twenty-ninth minute, the victory was secured.
Qatar were far too good for Palestine, but multiple changes in the second half certainly disrupted the hosts flow and the visitors avoided a more embarrassing defeat than it probably should have been. Hassan Al-Haydos scored his eighteenth goal for his country against Palestine, and with 92-caps is the most experienced player in the hosts squad and will provide their creative spark in midfield. Akram Afif has scored four goals in recent friendlies for the hosts and netted seven times in his last ten international matches.
With three wins, two draws, and one defeat in their last six matches Qatar are in good form heading into Friday’s friendly and will be confident of their chances of getting a result against Ecuador as the visitors have gone with a fairly inexperienced squad. With 43 caps and 23 goals for his country, Enner Valencia provides the firepower for the Ecuador side, while Frickson Erazo leads the defence and is the most capped player in the squad.
When Ecuador took on Guatemala for a friendly last month in Illinois the first half turned out to be a very even affair and the teams went in goalless at the break. Striker Enner Valencia played the entire ninety minutes for Ecuador, and it’s a good job too, as the former Everton and West Ham man scored in the eighty-second minute. Second half substitute Romario Ibarra wrapped up a 2-0 win in the eighty-fourth minute, and on the balance of play the South Americans deserved their win as they had 55% of the overall possession, more shots and more corners during the ninety minutes.
Ecuador lost four games on the run, all World Cup Qualifiers, before their most recent two friendlies against Jamaica and Guatemala, which both ended in victory. With two clean sheets in their last two matches Ecuador will be confident of keeping Qatar from scoring on Friday, but the hosts have only failed to score in one of their last six matches.
We’re confident that both teams will score in Friday’s friendly and have backed the final score to end 1-1. Both teams scored in each of the two previous encounters between Qatar and Ecuador, and both teams have only failed to score in one of their last six international matches. Both teams have scored in three of Qatar’s and in three of Ecuador’s last six matches, which is why we believe both teams will get on the scoreboard on Friday.
Head to Head
These two countries have only met twice before, with both games taking place in February of 1996. With one win and one draw from those two matches it's Ecuador who lead the head to head record.
