Reason For Seattle Sounders vs Portland Timbers Betting Tips
Portland Timbers carry a one goal lead into Friday’s 2nd Leg of their MLS Play-Off Semi-Final tie in the Western Conference against Seattle Sounders, but they are now away from home and have work to do if they are to see their way to victory. Seattle Sounders finished the season in second place behind Sporting KC thanks to a final day victory over SJ Earthquakes, while Portland Timbers ended up in fifth place, five points behind Friday’s hosts.
Seattle Sounders took a tenth minute lead in Portland on Sunday through their Peruvian number nine Ruidíaz, but the visitors were only in front for seven minutes before Ebobisse equalised for Portland Timbers. The home side went on to take the lead in the twenty-ninth minute through Argentine midfielder Blanco with a goal that proved enough to separate the two clubs at the half time break.
The first forty-five minutes contained the majority of the games action and no further goals were scored by either team during the second half. Seattle Sounders will be disappointed to find themselves behind at what is the halfway point in the tie as they had 56% of the overall possession and three shots on target to the hosts one. Portland had more shots in total, but there finishing was mostly wayward with seven shots failing to hit the target.
Ruidíaz has scored eleven goals in the MLS this season for Seattle Sounders, and has already proved to be a danger to the Portland Timbers defence so needs to be paid close attention by the visitors on Friday if Portland Timbers are to stop their hosts from scoring. Lodeiro and Bruin are the other two obvious goal scoring threats the hosts have, with the pair netting a combined fifteen league goals so far this season.
The Argentine duo of Váleri and Blanco have scored the most goals for Portland Timbers in this campaign, with the duo scoring twenty-three goals between them. Blanco has already scored against Seattle and the hosts will be wary of his late runs into the box from midfield. Sweden’s Armenteros has chipped in with eight MLS goals for Portland, but hasn’t registered in any of his last ten appearances for Friday’s visitors.
We’re confident that both teams will score and that over 2.5 goals will be produced on Sunday, with Seattle Sounders claiming a 2-1 win. Four of the last seven meetings between the two clubs have seen both teams score and produced over 2.5 goals. Seattle Sounders’ last five matches have also seen both teams score and produced over 2.5 goals, while five of Portland Timbers last seven matches have seen both teams score and produced over 2.5 goals. Three of Seattle Sounders’ last four match and each of Portland Timber’s last three matches have all ended in the same 2-1 scoreline, and we’re expecting more of the same on Friday.
