Reason For Swindon vs AFC Wimbledon Betting Tips

It didn’t look at all likely a few weeks ago, but Swindon have somehow turned their form around to secure two wins and a draw from their last three matches. These are vital points, but they will need plenty more if they’re to even think about remaining in League One next season. Luke William’s men have been very poor during this campaign and are currently deservedly in the drop-zone; however, if they continue to dig deep as they’ve done recently they could yet save themselves. Fortunately for the hosts they face a Wimbledon side who’ve little left to play for this season, as they’re safe in their mid-table haven.

With motivation a serious question for the visiting side, Swindon really do have a big opportunity here, especially since some of their relegation rivals are faced with much tougher opposition this weekend. Given their improved form, and the fact that they really should be up for this, the hosts are worth supporting to come out on top.

Victories over play-offs chasers Millwall and Fleetwood in recent weeks were massive and the hosts really ought to have taken plenty of confidence from such wins. They may have only drawn last time out, but they dug in and fought back to secure what could turn out to be a valuable point from a losing position. Such character could hold them in good stead over the coming weeks.

On their own patch, despite their lowly position, Swindon haven’t actually performed that badly. In scoring just 22 goals they’re lacking a bit in terms of firepower but they’ve now scored at least once in each of their six games. Their total of just 22 conceded is very respectable and if anything is to be their saving grace it might just be their useful defending at home. If the hosts can continue to keep things tight at the back, then there really is every chance that they can get the job done here against a Wimbledon side who’ve been poor in the last couple of weeks.

Since their survival in this division was almost guaranteed a few weeks ago – even if they lost all remaining matches, it’s highly unlikely that they’ll be close enough to the relegation zone for that to become a problem – Wimbledon have seemingly taken their foot off the gas. Neal Ardley’s men were very poor when losing 2-0 to Port Vale in their last away match and also offered little resistance against Bristol Rovers last time out.

Against a team who’ve scored just once in their last five matches, Swindon, who boast a useful defensive record at home, really ought to be right up for this fixture and can come out on top to give themselves a fighting chance of staying up.

Head to Head

These two teams have only faced each other on four previous occasions. Three of those meetings have finished all-square, while Swindon won the remaining fixture. Earlier in the campaign, the pair could not be separated (0-0).
