Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees
Free Pick: Game Total Over 8.0 at 20/23 with bet365
The New York Yankees will aim for their first home sweep of their rival Boston Red Sox since September 2012 when Luis Severino takes the mound against Steven Wright in Sunday’s late night baseball game.
The Yankees entered this series against the Red Sox having managed to win back-to-back games just once all season and dead last in the American League East, a series sweep here could help to spark a turn in fortunes for their campaign.
Boston’s frustrations boiled over last time out with David Ortiz and manager John Farrell getting ejected after contesting strike calls. The Red Sox had won nine of 11 entering this series, but a tough 8-2 loss, where ace David Price once again looked just slightly off, hinted that this club still has some big challenges to face.
Luis Severino (Yankees) – At 0-4 with a 6.31 ERA, Severino’s failure to follow up a solid rookie campaign has been part of the problem for New York this season. The Yankees have hinted that a stint in the minor league isn’t out of the question making every start pretty crucial for the young pitcher.
Steven Wright (Red Sox) – The surprise story of the season for Boston, Wright has been unlucky in terms of run support going 2-3 despite an impressive 1.67 ERA. His control has been extremely impressive.
Reason for Betting Tip
Knuckleballers usually get hit at some point, Wright is good, but his current start has only been matched by Roger Clemens when it comes to Red Sox history, we’ll back at least a little bit of a dip here, especially in this heated rivalry. Meanwhile, there’s no reason to think that Severino’s form is going to change, especially against a desperate Boston line-up looking to avoid the sweep. A couple of tough hitting line-ups should combine to put more than eight runs on the board here.

The Red Sox swept the first series of the season between these two teams at Fenway Park, the Yankees now have the opportunity to return the favour.
Boston Red Sox – Pablo Sandoval is out for the year, while Boston’s main injury problems are in the rotation where both Joe Kelly and Eduardo Rodriguez are currently missing. They need Wright to continue to offer solid production.
New York Yankees – New York hasn’t updated on Brian McCann or Jacoby Ellsbury after each sat out Saturday’s game, though hitting depth shouldn’t be a problem. Alex Rodriguez and Gregory Bird also continue to be on the D/L.
