Reason for Chicago Bears vs Seattle Seahawks Betting tips
The final game of Week 2 will take place at historic Soldier Field between two teams eager to pick up their first win of the new season. The Bears will be the more eager of the two sides after blowing a 20-0 lead to the Packers last week on Sunday Night Football. It was a story of two halves, with the Bears dominating on both sides of the ball throughout the first half. But in the second half, they couldn’t seem to move the ball (along with some questionable play calling), which opened the door for the Packers’ comeback. Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers came back from injury to play in the second half and led one of the most improbable comebacks that you’ll ever see. Rodgers was practically playing on one leg, and still managed to carve up a good Bears defense and get the Pack the win.
Still, there were some positives for Bears’ fans in the game. New signing LB Khalil Mack made an immediate impact with an INT, defensive TD, and forced fumble, while QB Mitchel Trubisky impressed in the first half along with the running back tandem of Jordan Howard and Tarik Cohen. But with the positives came the negatives, including a poor performance by new HC Matt Nagy in terms of situational play calling. Nagy had some bad decisions late in the game that cost the Bears a chance to seal the victory, so it will be interesting to see whether he continues his aggressive strategy this week.
Another aggressive Head Coach is lining up on the other sideline with Pete Carroll and his Seahawks. Its been quite a steep downfall for the team since their Super Bowl win, as the ‘Legion of Boom’ is down to all but one: S Earl Thomas. But, Seattle will now have to work with what they have, which honestly isn’t much. QB Russell Wilson managed nearly 300 yards through the air for 3 TDs, but also threw 2 INTs and was sacked six times. He completed passes to 10 different receivers, which is usually a good sign. But this just shows the lack of star talent at the wideout position with Doug Baldwin now out. The rushing attack was also subpar, with only 64 total yards and no touchdowns. On the other side of the ball, the defense did get 3 INTs off of Case Keenum, but also gave up 329 yards in the air for three TDs and 146 yards on the ground.
With all things considered, we think this will be a close game but that the Bears will come out on top. With all of the inconsistency along the Seattle offensive line, its hard seeing the running game having much success, especially against a good Bears’s front seven that should be able to put a lot of pressure on QB Russell Wilson. The Bears’ offense showed a lot of good signs last week in the first half, and we think that their balanced attack will be too much for a banged up Seattle defense.
We are recommending the Bears on the point spread, but although we are recommending it at -3.5, it would be smart to buy an extra half point to get the spread down to -3 since it is much safer with the field goal push. Either way, we are confident the Bears will respond, and being that they have better players than the Seahawks at most positions (other than QB), we think their overall team effort will be enough to cover. Also, we like the Bears to be winning at halftime and win, so we are recommending their HT/FT. After the disaster last week, the Bears will be eager to come out swinging, and their stable running game should be enough to keep the lead and wind the clock out.
