Reason for Houston Rockets vs Golden State Warriors Betting tips

After the Boston Celtics went up 2-0 on the Cleveland Cavaliers last night, the Golden State Warriors have an opportunity to do the same against Houston in their Conference Finals series as the two teams meet once again at the Toyota Center.

After working hard for it the entire 82 game regular season, the Houston Rockets gave away home court advantage in just 48 mins against the Warriors on Monday and now they face a must win scenario if they want to avoid going down 2-0 in the series. Figuring out a way to slow down Kevin Durant will be crucial as he dominated Game 1 with 37 pts on very efficient shooting.

Both James Harden and Chris Paul delivered in the loss. The Beard finished with 41 pts and 7 assists on 14/24 shooting while CP3 went off for 23 pts, 11 boards on almost 50% from the field. Despite getting production from their two best players the Rockets still lost by double digits. Role players will have to step up tonight. Ariza, Tucker, Anderson, Mbah a Moute and Green combined for just 15 pts between them and that’s simply not going to cut it in Game 2.

A well rounded team effort was crucial for GSW as every single player who entered the game managed to score at least one basket. Four players went into double figures and despite Steph Curry going only 1/5 from 3-point land the win was never in doubt.

Along with their role players stepping up, Houston will have to do a much better job with ball movement tonight if they want to win. They passed the ball just 226 times in Game 1 compared to the Warriors total of 283. Sure Harden and Paul can get their numbers playing ISO ball, but as we all know that is not the recipe for success against the defending champs.

After 225 combined pts scored on Monday I expect a similar amount tonight as well. The Warriors trio of Durant, Curry and Thompson took 60 of 80 total team shots and even with Curry somewhat struggling from 3-point land they still managed to score 119. I’m going Over 224.5 Total Points at 10/11 odds.

As much as I’d like this series to go long I just don’t see it happening. Golden State did what they came for, they grabbed one on the road and can now play without pressure in tonight’s game. Game 1 was relatively close after the first half, but then Golden State was able to pull away the next two quarters by a combined 15 pts. I feel like backing Golden State Warriors +4 Point Spread is a decent bet here at 4/7 odds.
