Reason for Jacksonville Jaguars vs New England Patriots Betting tips

The Patriots will head down south to play the Jaguars in the featured late afternoon game this Sunday. Both teams are coming off wins last week, but one side looked far better than the other.

The Patriots were visited by the Texans, and were in control the entire game. Although the final score was 27-20, there was never any doubt about this one once New England got out ahead early. QB Tom Brady impressed as always, throwing for 277 yards and 3 TDs. TE Rob Gronkowski showed again why he is the best tight end in the league with over 120 yards receiving and a TD. It was a great performance by Brady and company, but everyone knows that the offense is good in New England. The more shockingly impressive performance came from the New England defense, which made QB Deshaun Watson uncomfortable all game. The talented rookie was never able to get comfortable which really ended up holding the Texans’ offense back. The Pats will need a good showing from their defense when they travel down to Jacksonville, because they struggled slightly on the road last year.

On the other hand, the Jaguars won last week but not as convincingly as the Patriots. Although the Jags pulled out a 20-15 win in New York over the Giants, their offense was suspect yet again. The offense only scored 13, as the other TD came from a pick-6 by the Jags’ D. Now, with Leonard Fournette picking up an injury and no one in the WR corps looking able to step up and replace the injured Marqise Lee, the offensive capabilities of the Jaguars look limited. QB Blake Bortles only completed a little over half of his passes last week, and tossed an INT to go along with his TD. So without much other help, it doesn’t seem like Bortles is going to be able to handle the offensive load by himself. Fortunately for Bortles, he has the best defense in the league on his sideline. The Jags get Dane Fowler Jr. back Sunday, adding to an already stacked defensive line and the best CB tandem in football in Jalen Ramsey AJ Bouye.

With all things considered, we like the Patriots money line for this one with very high confidence. In this battle of great offense vs great defense, we trust the cast of Future Hall of Famers that the Pats rely on in HC Bill Belechick and Tom Brady, who have shown in the past that they can beat up even the best defenses. Brady won’t make a lot of the mistakes that the Jacksonville defense can capitalize on, and TE Rob Gronkowski is still a matchup nightmare. Another huge factor is the lack of offensive production for the Jaguars. QB Blake Bortles won’t be able to keep up with Brady, and even though the Pats’ D doesn’t have a ton of playmakers, they should be able to capitalize on Bortles’ shortcomings.

We also like the under in this game because although we think the Pats will win, the Jags’ defense is still very good and should be able to stop a lot of the Patriots’ drives. While on the other side, the Jags’ offense won’t be able to do much even at home. So at this key number (6 TDs, 1 FG) we think the under is worth a shot.

The average score of the past 10 games has been 27.9-16.2 in favor of the Pats.
